Is there a manual available for boosting this system without liquid nitrogen? I don’t own an AMD chip, but I’m looking to improve single-core speed for a hypervisor setup. Some VMs occasionally need higher GHz, not just threads.

It enhances itself using the algorithm from SenseMi Technology. At most, just turn on PBO and apply an XMP memory profile. For extreme conditions like LN2, things will change.

I turned on PBO but didn’t activate XMP since there’s a small asterisk on the board indicating the 3990x is only supported with standard memory speeds. For more details, check the official page at https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Prime-TRX40-Pro/ and consult the CPU and Memory QVL on the Qualified Vendors site.

Sorry about the oversight, please quote or tag me for a fast reply! I’m not sure about your memory details, but the board can handle up to 4600mhz OC. The chip’s max speed is 3200mhz in quad channel, which boosts performance if XMP isn’t working. This should greatly improve speed. I recommend giving it a try. If the system doesn’t upload the XMP profile, wait a few minutes. By default it will attempt the settings three times, and on the fourth it enters safe mode to let you adjust BIOS. Don’t forget to press F10 and save your changes.

I tested 3200 (DOCP Standard) but it wouldn't boot and got stuck at 2666.

It's fine to operate at that frequency with many DIMMs in place. You're roughly 500mhz quicker than the standard (2133mhz), which should provide a noticeable improvement.
