Destiny 2 On Steam
Destiny 2 On Steam
Anyone else get on Destiny 2 yet? It took forever to unpack the game and now I'm stuck waiting for capacity.
I had to uninstall the Blizzard version to free up some disk space and am worried now that my settings are going to have to be re-entered. I don't use WASD for controls so having to remember what I had everything at before (hadn't played in a while) might be a struggle. Though I guess it doesn't really matter if I can't even remember what the actions were.
I basically had two Destiny 2 installs at once, which used up my 1 TB SSD with around 65 GB remaining. I uninstalled the Blizzard version because Steam was unpacking its own version. And now I finally got some game play in, and it looks like everything migrated smoothly. Thumbs up.
It's been taken off Blizzard these days, so getting the second install wouldn't help. And honestly, I know what you're feeling—my 1TB SSD is always full, and most games are just huge now. Good to hear! I'm stuck at work right now and can't access Shadowkeep until tonight.
Only around 7000 individuals waiting in line before me for the Destiny 2 servers.
I played for a few hours yesterday as someone completely new to the scene. If there was any story in the game, it seems it's been removed. I'm 99% sure they swapped the Destiny 2 intro for Destiny 1. The tower isn't destroyed, and I don’t know who any of the characters are. The game just told me to join some events or whatever, and honestly, just grab a candy bar.
The gameplay feels surprisingly smooth, and I’m getting around 90fps on my latest system.
To fix this without reading more, it turns out the opening matches Destiny 1 directly... for some reason... you can still play the main campaigns from Destiny 2, but you have to talk to random people instead of the leaders at the tower, which doesn’t make much sense. I haven’t seen any clues and have just been told to do random events on planets and PVP.

"Actually, that’s just suggested. You could jump into the PvP Crucible once you reach the tower and play a few rounds. Or try the PvE/PvP hybrid Gambit, which is great. Or you might start the story campaign in Destiny 2—the Red War—it’s not clear from the video, but a Bungie rep confirmed to Kotaku that New Light players can begin the Red War campaign as soon as they reach the tower by talking to Amanda Holliday, the shipwright in the hanger."
So far, I've only encountered zero actual stories. The only figures I've been told about are the ones at the tower. Nathan Fillion keeps showing up on my comms, but I have no clue who he is or why he's speaking to me. It's really cool. It seems like they either completely overlooked that people might not have played it before, or they just noticed there was so little content they decided to skip it entirely.
