I recently changed from a single 2400MHz 8GB stick to two 8GHz sticks, but when installing they automatically defaulted to 2600MHz. I wondered if manually setting them to the listed speeds would fix the issue, though it caused app crashes.

Place them in slots 2 and 4 on the motherboard (if needed), and then activate the XMP/DOCP setting in the BIOS to let them operate at their optimal speed, timing, and voltage.
