Designing a communication structure?
Designing a communication structure?
I’m new to setting up networks. I live on an island just a quarter of a mile from the coast, linked by a bridge but with limited power and internet options. The connections we have are outdated, and ISPs say it could take years for better fiber or satellite service. Right now, my speed is about 10mbps, which isn’t enough for gaming or streaming with many people using Netflix and Hulu. No ISP has offered any plans to improve this area soon. I’ve never built anything before, but I’m curious—could I set up my own setup? Maybe using a tower from texastowers.com or an Ubiquiti dish to handle the connection? I’d like to try building something similar to what Deadmaufine does at his place.
Checking the location of your landline ISP connection and whether you need strong speeds for a stable link. I'm about to search for some guidance. Thanks! Note: The previous video covered extending WiFi over long distances but doesn't walk through the setup process or recommend specific requirements. It also presumes you already have a land connection, which isn't your case yet. Also, I'm new to networking so keep it simple.
It seems like you're talking about a high-speed internet connection on the mainland. The cost might be due to the price of your expensive router. The signal range is around 20 kilometers or 12 meters. The title mentioned is "12 KILOMETER Wi-Fi - SUCCESS!!!" but it looks like there might be confusion with the actual coverage. Long-distance Wi-Fi can reach up to 25 kilometers...
Certainly! Here are alternative ideas: Look for different ways to link your local network to a broader internet provider, such as using a mobile hotspot or exploring community Wi-Fi options. You might also consider connecting your home network directly to an ISP hub if available.
The only alternative is using satellites, which is costly. Marine supply could offer those solutions. You might consider laying a cable, though that isn't advisable. It's unclear what other options exist. Searching online could help. Using terms like directional long distance wifi might provide useful guidance.
