I saved the latest BIOS files and updated them. Still facing the same problem—I might need to switch to a previous version. Testing with two NVMe drives that aren’t SSDs.

If you're on 10 and above, your system can handle up to 2TB of RAM without trouble. The problem likely lies in the BIOS settings. You might reset the CMOS by removing the battery to clear it. Have you recently purchased a new motherboard and CPU? It's possible the board or CPU itself is faulty. Also verify the QVL list to confirm your memory modules are compatible. Consumer boards tend to be strict about memory limits, so testing half the capacity can help identify issues. If both tests fail, the hardware may be defective or the memory problematic.

NVMe refers to the interface standard for SSDs, while SSD stands for solid-state drive. There are also SATA SSD options available. The M.2 connector is used for connecting these drives. Try removing one SSD to test, then check by removing both.

NVMe drives are SSDs, but they require PCIe connections. I’m unsure how many are needed for multiple modules. I’ve never run more than four DIMMs on non-server systems.

CPU-Z displays memory information while Task Manager doesn't. Using an XMP profile 1 causes the system to fail to boot, regardless of whether you have 128GB or more.

Did you delete the NVME storage units? Also, don’t assume XMP will function with 8 dimms.

Did you ever solve this? I'm facing a comparable problem. X299 Designare 10g with the newest BIOS. Four 16GB drives worked perfectly here before. The BIOS lists all four but only shows 32 gigabytes instead of the full 64. Even Windows displays just 32. But in the BIOS, it clearly recognizes all four drives yet skips half of them. The only change I made was to the cooler just before noticing this issue.
