I have a 10980xe which has the 48 lanes required for 256 ram and the motherboard supports it and I have the latest bios. You can even see in the picture that the motherboard see 8 sticks of 32gb of ram but you can see that it only allows 128. I have been looking around but cant figure out if there is some setting I am missing I need to set to allow for the max 256 to be allocated. Would appreciate any help...

Update your bios and check for any changes. If they don't work, try flashing them.

Their official site lists the newest F3j model. Backup was introduced around 2019 for this chipset, and the board manual confirms compatibility up to 256. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X29...rt-dl-bios

Also ensure you're using Windows Pro or an OS that supports 256 GB of RAM. The BIOS might sometimes display incorrect RAM amounts, usually showing them in the DIMM section. It could also relate to a channel setting that needs enabling via DRAM options.
