Deploying application updates.
Deploying application updates.
Hi there. Let me know if you need adjustments in direction. This topic seems a bit off the usual forum path—make sure it fits somewhere else if needed. I’m trying to understand deployment options for software across many PCs. We’re considering Microsoft AppVision or VMware ThinApp, aiming to create and send packages that install locally on each machine. It’s unusual to see this in action across multiple systems at once, so I’m looking for real-world examples or advice. Any insights would be really helpful!
Check out Intune on Microsoft's site – it comes bundled with certain Office 365 plans, so you might already have access.
You're setting up the software on the devices. The free edition of PDQ Deploy offers restricted capabilities, and scheduling updates isn't possible. Enterprise licensing starts near $500 per administrator.
Enterprise shines when you rely on it heavily. You just need a deployment tool. I run a VM, but my setup works too. We coordinate releases and similar tasks.
I've experimented with it and it functions well, though there are some issues with custom packages. I tried Vivaldi as a trial version and managed to install it on a machine. However, it no longer opens properly. Oops, I should have mentioned you, @beanhubbleday
