Hey! I see you're working with Adobe tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and Audition often. Since you sometimes run multiple apps at once—especially with Brave and Thunderbird—it’s getting tough on your system. Your Dell XPS 15 7590 i9-9980HK has a decent specs but might need a boost. With a $4k budget, you have a few options: upgrade hardware like a faster GPU or RAM, consider a more powerful laptop, or tweak software settings. Let me know what feels best for your workflow!

I believe a desktop workstation suits you best. Use it for Adobe tools, browsing, and email on the laptop. Ensure your display has accurate color calibration. Avoid choosing a Mac unless you're willing to replace everything. The current Intel Mac Pro is becoming outdated and expensive, while Apple Silicon systems are highly integrated.

Sure! For your needs, focus on a balanced CPU with strong multi-core support and a modern GPU with good VRAM capacity. Check reviews for performance with Adobe apps to ensure compatibility.

Only certain effects run on GPU acceleration, so your CPU and RAM become the main focus for your setup. Based on your budget and tasks, choosing between AMD or Intel CPUs can make a difference in performance compared to a laptop. You’ll likely find satisfactory results either way, especially since desktop processors often have more power limits due to heat management. This video about professional video editing was helpful and should apply to the other projects you’re planning.

It’s possible to generalize, but not guaranteed—recommendations depend on the specific hardware and system configuration. Using it for Premiere Pro shouldn’t conflict with other Adobe apps if they’re compatible.

AMD processors generally excel in handling multiple tasks, while Intel CPUs usually show stronger performance for single-core operations.

You possess an 8-core Intel processor capable of turbo boosting to 5.00 GHz. While this suggests high potential, many Dell XPS 15 devices have experienced performance limitations. Have you explored these issues? There could be a cause behind your laptop’s slower-than-expected speed. Consider using ThrottleStop to diagnose the problem. https://www.techpowerup.com/download/tec...ottlestop/ Review the results to understand your system’s behavior. You might want to examine Log File options on the main display for a performance log while using the machine. Have you ever taken apart your laptop to clear debris from the cooling components? This simple maintenance step is essential for optimal operation. Many Dell models feature accessible back panels, making it easy to clean heatsinks and maintain airflow.

I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but I haven't cleaned my laptop in three years. I should know better—I spent my teenage years putting together each PC and actually cleaning them. Adulthood isn't so easy. Anyway, I just finished the cleaning and tomorrow I'll run Throttle stop, post screenshots, and log files. Thanks!
