In short, your Dell Latitude 3400 isn’t reaching your home Wi-Fi despite working with a phone tethering method. The issue has persisted for three years, and you’re getting connection errors like “can’t connect” or wrong credentials even though the details seem correct. I’ve tried checking the settings and troubleshooting steps, but it hasn’t resolved the problem.
Did you confirm you cleared "Forget Network" before each try? Does this issue occur on both 2.4 and 5.0GHz bands? It seems the laptop connects to Wi-Fi in other areas besides your phones—your router isn’t blacklisting your wireless card. If you temporarily changed the name and password of your Wi-Fi and retried, what would happen? Using a wired connection, you could open Device Manager, remove the wireless adapter, restart, and then run Windows Update to reinstall a working driver.
It occurs at both 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz. I switched my ISP about three months ago, which should fix the issue. However, it still doesn’t connect properly. I updated the driver while using my phone, but it doesn’t work with other Wi-Fi networks either. I suspect it might be blacklisted or there could be another problem. I also forgot to set up the network during previous attempts. It doesn’t connect to my phone’s hotspot, so I’m trying to use a wired connection instead and sharing the home Wi-Fi.
Join the discussions! Have you considered replacing the m.2 Wi-Fi card? It seems to be non-functional since it doesn’t connect to any Wi-Fi networks.
