Fix this laptop issue—it’s been acting up lately. The charger indicator keeps flickering in a way similar to an HDD light during startup. It occurs whether it’s connected or not, and it seems to show full charging speed, so I don’t think the connection is loose. Plus, it happens even when the device isn’t running.

I understand this might not be a tech expert, but it could be an LED issue or something unrelated to charging speed. Let me check if anyone is talking about it online.

I think you're referring to an Inspiron 15. It seems this model supports both a barrel charger and USB-C charging, which might explain the issue. Two potential causes are a loose connection or insufficient charger power. I’d lean toward the first if you’ve been using the same charger. Make sure you’re using a charger with similar wattage to what came with the laptop—like a 45W unit for a 45W model. I’ve seen this problem with older XPS systems that only turn on with a 150W+ charger.

Device powers up consistently at the same speed when tested by reducing it to 10% and then recharging. It uses a single barrel adapter supporting 2 USB-A 3.0 ports and 1 USB 2.0, with a capacity of 65W. The laptop itself takes roughly 2–3 hours in standard mode and 30 minutes to an hour for express charging.

It looks like the LED is just functioning normally. I hope you get a clearer explanation, but since the laptop charges properly, it shouldn’t be a major problem.

It seems to occur even without the laptop connected. Maybe the BIOS is confusing things and mixing up the HDD with something else? I added an HDD recently, but it started acting oddly just now.

In this scenario, I'd assume the issue stems from the light triggering a short against the chassis or a close proximity to a +3.3V/5V rail.

You can try adjusting the settings to reduce the flickering. It seems the display doesn’t reach full brightness often, so consider changing the sensitivity or brightness controls.

Tape is applied to the light. Nothing else seems possible at this point.

You might notice any problems once you’ve opened it, but you won’t see them right away. You can check after a short wait and share the photo.
