Yes, you can adjust the settings to handle strong thermals.

Undervolting offers better results. Users have successfully lowered the power supply to 1.1 to 1.0 volts. Ryzen chips are built into the IHS and naturally provide strong heat dissipation.

It's feasible, though I've only reached about 2700X. Direct die cooling (unplated) achieved roughly a 5°C temperature reduction on that chip. The risk of delamination isn't worth the effort if something goes wrong. If you aim for higher temps, adding a spot fan to the VRM area can improve airflow near the CPU base. This is especially useful with water coolers or tower coolers that don't provide strong face-down airflow like standard cases do.

Did you apply liquid metal or regular paste after removing the outer layer?

Applied regular paste, specifically Antec Formula 7.

That’s an error if you used liquid metal; at least you could achieve a 10-degree drop.

It's non-conductive and significantly safer... Just avoid handling it. But that was a mistake? No, I don't think so? Re-Plated, TEC cooled, paste, not LM-30c idle 4GHz 1.19V 2700x 16 threads. What do you think? Spoiler alert!
