I've been facing problems with accessing the Windows Store and one troubleshooting step is to sign out of my Microsoft admin account and log back in. The issue is, before I can do that, I need to remove the profile. I’m curious what would happen if I did this—would anything be lost or locked out? Or would only the profile disappear from my computer? It sounds like a pretty basic question, but I’m not very familiar with software or operating systems, so I want to make sure I understand before proceeding.

Certainly! You can simply set up a new account and log in there, then switch back to the original one.

I attempted but it didn’t work. The main issue is I’m unable to join the Xbox app, which prevents access to Windows Store games. Some users recommend deleting the account altogether.

Create a duplicate of your user folder and store it in a location separate from your main profile, such as another drive or the root of your C drive. Once done, you can simply combine the backup with your new user directory.

When you delete your profile through PC properties—advanced system settings, user profiles—those files and folders will disappear. The *yourProfileName* directory, containing documents, pictures, videos, and more, will no longer exist. Hidden areas like AppData may also be affected, storing Outlook files if emails are set up. Some game saves might live in the Documents folder as well. Your store items are likely in AppData, which should be restored automatically after logging back in.
