I just upgraded my motherboard to a b450m steel legend from a b450m ds3h. With my ds3h I was achieving 250-300mb/s via the ethernet port, but now with my new mobo I’m only getting up to 112mb/s. After uninstalling and reinstalling the realtek drivers, my ping is still high and downloads are even slower. The cable seems broken, and I suspect my ISP might be throttling me.

Have you looked to see if Windows is receiving updates or if you're currently using the newest updates?

The latest version was released in October 2020. Google showed a 20h2 result, so I’m confirming that’s what you’re referring to. It’s a good idea to update to the newest version, and if that doesn’t help, consider updating the Realtek driver as an optional step.

In addition, I suggest using a dedicated PCI-e x1 ethernet card such as the Intel i210 for gaming. The built-in components are sufficient, but a dedicated card offers better stability and lower latency. Gigabyte doesn’t specify the chip used compared to Realtek 8111H in the ASRock Board—this difference might matter. As for drivers, open BIOS, turn off Ethernet, boot into Windows, remove the existing driver, restart, and let Windows install the default one first. Then test it. Occasionally, the built-in driver performs better. If it doesn’t, install the current Realtek driver package.

Are you certain those figures are accurate? It might just be a misinterpretation. However, 112MB/s sounds reasonable for Gigabit speeds. Both motherboards appear to support a Gigabit port. If you want even higher performance, you'll need to upgrade past Gigabit Ethernet.
