Delay in every game
Delay in every game
I mostly use planetside 2 and battlefield 4 and often face lag issues. My setup began with an R9 270X and later upgraded to an R9 290. After the upgrade, I didn’t notice much improvement in FPS, so I reinstalled drivers and still saw no gain. I also tried reinstalling Windows 8.1 along with all the drivers, but performance remained unchanged. I suspect my CPU might be the issue, especially since changing from low to ultra graphics on planetside 2 didn’t help or hurt much. I currently have an FX-8320 that was overclocked to 4.0GHz and later stabilized at 4.6GHz. I’m curious if it’s my CPU that’s the problem, especially since replacing it would cost over $350 just to check.
What operating system are you using? Win7 showed poor performance with BF4, dropping from 70fps to over 100 at 1080p on Windows 8.1, and it helped reduce some frame drops.
In BF4, checking Task Manager's performance section helps identify if memory or CPU usage is reaching limits. This is the next step if you suspect a bottleneck. Try to remove any potential reasons as quickly as possible.
You understand that lag means a significant delay between input and output, not just low framerates. Achieving 25 frames per second when you need 60 isn't lag—it's just insufficient speed. Similarly, a 300ms delay versus the desired 40ms is lag. This concept was widely recognized by people of all ages.
The maximum CPU usage I've ever observed reached 86%, usually staying around the low 80s. For RAM, it consistently remains at about 60%.
