Does it live up to expectations? Windows reports an 11% fragment rate, and I’ve experienced slow loading in BF4 online. I’m hoping this update helps. I can’t spend money on another program, but am I getting the best free option?

The built-in Windows version performs well (avoid defragmenting an SSD). /You also lack the best HDD for gaming; green options are a bit laggy.

It could assist with defragmentation, but you're likely running a 5400 RPM drive, which tends to be inefficient.

It seems the slow loading is likely caused by the WD Green version.

I received approval for large storage capacity, not for performance; it works for programs and games too—just not for Battlefield 4. Extremely slow, with about a minute to load each thing.

I'm thinking about trying the new Dreamworks Shrek cereal.

I determined the reason for the slow loading by analyzing the files on my system.

I also tried Defraggler, but the native Windows utility works equally well for me.

For slow HDD, I recommend O&O defrag, where you do a full deep defrag (that is not just defragging, but also put files it accesses in order one after another, to reduce the read/write head from moving all over the place). It is a VERY time consuming process, but you don't do it on a daily basis, more like once after you setup everything and use the system a bit. So the software isn't free, sadly, but there is a trial version which is all what you need. Once installed and run. Click on the down arrow under the "play/start" button, and select COMPLETE/Access. The process can take up 8h easily as it shift data all over the place. So I suggest to disable sleep, and let it run overnight. Then once done, you can just remove the software and reboot, and you should see visible performance increase already.

I favor Smart Defrag instead of Defraggler. It runs quicker and includes SSD trimming. Regarding your loading issue, BF4 has consistently performed this way since the start. Transfer it to your SSD if available and watch the results.
