Hello, I recently assembled my initial PC using two 8GB Corsair Vengeance LX 2133MHz RAM sticks. The machine would frequently crash at unpredictable times. Based on my tests, it appears Windows isn't compatible with one of my RAM modules. I've tried several fixes so far: replacing the faulty RAM stick (A), keeping B stable during stress tests, using only 6GB, resetting Windows completely, and reinstalling drivers. Everything seems normal in Linux, which runs smoothly even with both sticks. All DIMM slots function correctly on my motherboard. Tested on a friend's system running Windows, both sticks operate without issues. Additional details: CPU is Ryzen 5 2600X, motherboard MSI B350 Mortar, GPU Sapphire RX 580. Any suggestions for resolving this would be appreciated. Thanks to GDRRiley ShrimpBrime for your help – especially the idea about disabling a DIMM slot in Windows 10, which could let me use different RAM configurations.

Memtest might confirm it's problematic, yet the just solution is an RMA.

The problem appears to stem from software, as it only happens on Windows 10 on my PC. I’m curious if adjusting a specific file could resolve the issue.

No, I wasn't told whether the two sticks were placed in slots A2 and B2.

The two sticks are located in slots A2 and B2. I also tried placing them in A1 and B1 to check for any difference, but it didn’t change anything.

The two additional factors that might cause memory problems are an incorrect motherboard slot or a faulty Integrated Memory controller (IMC/CPU). Does your friend have a CPU you could use instead? You can test it in his PC. If the CPU works, return the board. There’s a note about modifying Windows files to avoid blue screens—this suggests a hardware problem. You’ve just installed a new Windows version. There’s a slight possibility the installation media or the process itself caused corruption.

I checked it on my friends' PCs and both RAM sticks worked fine. They also functioned well when I ran Linux on their machines, leading me to think Windows 10 might be involved in the problem.

I've attempted to reinstall Windows 10 using fresh installation media, but it didn't resolve the issue. I'm considering installing Windows 10 Pro as a final option if needed.

It seems you're experiencing an unusual problem. Consider using the USB 2.0 port instead.

I did that after reinstalling Windows 10. I’m considering setting up a dual-boot system because most of my games and programs work on Linux, but for the few that don’t, I still need Windows 10. I’m looking into disabling the DIMM slot with the RAM stick that causes problems in Windows 10 now. Instead of searching for a specific issue, I’m trying to separate my 16GB RAM into Linux and Windows 10 so it works better. If I switch to Windows 10 Pro, it might not solve the problem, but it could save me money instead of buying new RAM.
