Default settings are optimized but cause boot issues on your laptop.
Hi there, I see you pressed the default optimization option by accident on your laptop, and it’s not booting anymore. A video might be useful—please share it so I can assist further.
Based on the available information, it seems the system might be using an alternative disk access method like AHCI to Optane or RAID instead of the standard AHCI setup. This could interfere with Windows booting. An overclock, such as XMP, might have caused instability. Check for error messages after power-on or try removing the CMOS battery to reset BIOS settings. Consult the manufacturer’s support site or FAQs for default configurations. A BIOS update could potentially restore normal operation.
I noticed in the video that your Windows 10 takes a long time to start. It attempts automatic repair briefly before reaching the recovery environment. A possible reason could be secure boot is enabled or an untrusted driver is in use. Please share a screenshot of your BIOS security settings if applicable. If secure boot is active, try disabling it and restart. In the recovery options, go to Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Command Prompt and verify all drives—run "dir c:" to check. You might also attempt a safe boot by navigating to Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings and pressing Restart. After rebooting, look for the menu that suggests booting in safe mode by pressing key 4.
I submitted a request to ASUS support, they advised reinstalling Windows. They mentioned no critical files were on the laptop. You're wondering if a fresh install might help things improve. You noted you can't delete the battery, but the site suggested holding the power button for 40 seconds to reset the CMOS. It seems similar to what happened after uploading previously.
Thank you for your help. I notice secure boot is turned off. Apologies if it seems confusing in Hungarian. I can only see these advanced settings. ASUS said I need to reinstall Windows. Will that fix the issue? Since I don’t have anything important on my laptop, should I go ahead?
Check the VMD controller status, enable it if needed, then restart and try again.
I believe it’s not an issue for me since I discovered a YouTube tutorial on reinstalling Windows 10, including the use of DiskPart.
