Hey! You're considering a refresh for your setup after getting a good deal on the RTX 3070. Right now, your system feels a bit unbalanced, so it makes sense to look at upgrades. Since you're already planning to upgrade your power supply and are thinking about RAM, you might want to weigh your options carefully. The 2400 is indeed slow, especially for future needs, and DDR5 could be a better path if you're only using 16GB now. If you're comfortable with DDR4 3600, it's a solid choice given your past savings. Just check what's available and match it to your budget.

16GB of DDR5 causes performance drops because of its design (details unclear, but it’s known this happens). You’d need at least 32GB instead.

Switching to DDR5 would save you money in the long run since future upgrades a few years from now could use DDR5, while DDR4 would be more affordable at the moment.

I think leaving around 10% of performance may be realistic with a 2400 RAM setup. Investing in DDR5 could be worthwhile, but it's not necessarily cheaper than upgrading to DDR4 right now. I'm still trying to figure it out. Do you have any references for this?

People say there are a million spots. In short, skip the 16GB DDR5 upgrade.

No, we won't use a 2x8GB setup or any 16GB cards.

Avoid receiving two 8GB drives at once. Opt for two 16GB units instead.

I used an DDR4 Z790 Tomahawk with a 13600k and it really works great.

You wouldn’t lose any chance since most motherboards allow dual channel operation, and you have four available slots.
