Decentralized Orchid VPN offers secure online access.
I recently learned about an Ethereum-based decentralized VPN service named Orchid that accepts OXT as payment for a pay-as-you-go system. It appears to be an innovative VPN option, supported by figures like Edward Snowden. Traditional VPN providers are centralized, allowing the company to potentially misuse your information. Orchid addresses this by operating on a decentralized network, ensuring no single party controls your data. This concept seems promising, and I’m considering switching. Have anyone used it and shared their experiences regarding speed, reliability, or other features?
Cool idea, but doesn't Tor do this already and for free? Yeah typically you'd use a VPN to hide your activity, not record it forever lol. No data is better than immutable data when it comes to VPNs. There's also the issue of liability, since you can't blame suspicous activity on your VPN provider's nodes.
Data would be kept secure on a device provided to the network by the "miners." I'm not very familiar with Orchid, but Filecoin works in a similar way—you share storage with the network and earn rewards for each gigabyte you supply. Others can then store their files on the network, which remains encrypted using your private key.
