im getting an i7-6700k and an asus z170m-plus motherboard, and i intend to mildly overclock (only to around 4.2 GHz) and i would like some recommendations for a substantial cooler. I do have some preferences, ideally it would be low profile, able to install without removing the motherboard from the case and as cheap as possible as money is a small issue, i understand this is alot to consider and i thank everyone greatly for any advice i receive.

choose Z170 instead of Z270, and since the 6700K has a turboclock at 4.2ghz, you won’t get any benefit. if you want an air cooler, consider models from Noctua such as Nhd12,14,15, Bequiet Dark Rock 3, Pro3, Phanteks Ph-tc14pe, Cryorig R1, etc., but expect a lot of space for this kind of cooling device.

You should use Z170 instead of Z270, and the 6700K model has a turboclock at 4.2ghz so it won't help much. If you want better cooling, consider parts from Noctua such as Nhd12,14,15, Bequiet Dark Rock 3, Pro3, Phanteks Ph-tc14pe, or CryoVision R1. However, you'll need a lot of space for this kind of cooler.
