This PC isn't built for gaming. However, I can confirm this wasn't chosen because of personal preference. I'm not sure if I mentioned the price here, but I received it for around 200$. It doesn't come with a dedicated GPU—just onboard graphics, which my mom said "does the job" (no NVIDIA card). It ships with a generic power supply that I haven’t been able to replace because it lacks the required wattage. That’s not the same as what you need.
@BahnStormer I own a 1200p monitor, so DVI is fine. I got a DVI-to-HDMI cable for this monitor a year ago before the pandemic. Oh wow, the pandemic has been going on for two years now. That’s a bit off-topic, but I have to say I guess. I’m not still using Linux. I went back to Windows because I needed it for streaming a lot of movies and shows with Plex. When I was on Windows, everything worked perfectly. No issues at all. But once I switched to Linux, I couldn’t manage other internal drives from Plex. I spent about 19 hours watching YouTube tutorials trying to fix it, but I gave up and went back to Windows. I’m currently using Windows 10.
Another issue has appeared recently. My CPU doesn't increase performance during transcoding. Intel's page indicates up to 3 GHz, but I notice it rarely exceeds 2 GHz. This prevents me from watching the transcoded streams, as I usually view only 1-2 streams at a time. I don’t even do much transcoding; most of the time I just play directly. I only convert files like HEVC, which also barely reaches 2 GHz. Previously it could go up to 2.7–2.9 GHz, which I considered acceptable for an older APU with possibly outdated drivers. However, under 2 GHz is not feasible—what could be the reason?
Review the temperatures – could be heat limiting performance. Or the power supply might be having trouble (aging), which usually leads to crashes instead of slowdowns. My thought is a dirty cooler plus aged, dry thermal paste = thermal throttling.
