I believe the motherboard is faulty since the system only beeps when the CPU is connected and no graphics card or RAM is present, even though the RAM appears to be functional. Given that the RAM is confirmed to be good, you should consider replacing the motherboard. The i7 980x Extreme Edition CPU can still be used in other setups, but it’s best to assess its compatibility before proceeding.

Wipe the memory stick and the port using alcohol or a contact cleaner. In older systems, the RAM might be damaged.

It seems the RAM/slots might be the problem rather than the motherboard itself.

Based on my observations, cleaning RAM slots one at a time often resolved issues with older systems. Have you experimented by inserting one RAM stick at a time into various slots?
