My friend purchased me a Dead Island gift for Dead Island: Epidemic, but I can’t locate it on Steam now. I’ve seen it before when it was free and later paid for. Why was it taken down? And if I use the gift code, can I still play the game? It seems strange that it wouldn’t be available anymore.

You seem unfamiliar with it, which suggests it might be available only online. That means the gift you received could be irrelevant to your needs.

It seems like you're recalling a game that might be related to MOBA titles, but it's hard to pinpoint without more details.

It's just a random decision, seems odd for them to hand out a gift during the purchase of Dead Island. They might not have considered removing that option.
