We own a Dell Optiplex 7010 XCTO equipped with an i7-13700 processor. It appears to reject standard memory from Crucial. The system accepts the SK Hynix RAM that came with it, but not a matching Crucial DIMM model. Below are the details for both DIMMs:

- SK Hynix, original, code "HMCG78MEBUA084N BA": DDR5-4800, unbuffered, non-ECC, 2Gx8
- Crucial, new: product number CT16G48C40U5: DDR5-4800, unbuffered, possibly ECC (organization uncertain)

Potential issues: CPU supports up to DDR5-5600; Dell may have BIOS restrictions; RAM is non-ECC. The user notes success on an XPS 8950/Aurora R13.

Possible causes:
- CPU limits to DDR5-5600
- Dell enforces a policy for only certain memory types
- BIOS might block specific configurations

Regarding compatibility with an AMD Ryzen 7 series: Unlikely, as the RAM is DDR5-4800 and the system supports up to DDR5-5600.

If the system isn't using ECC currently and you're trying to access memory that requires ECC, the problem lies in compatibility. Whether your CPU supports both types doesn't matter as much as whether your motherboard can handle the correct type. Make sure you're using the right components. Be cautious with Dell Forum discussions—just because something worked on another model doesn't guarantee it will work for you.
