This is quite possible the problem.
Anything outside the standard packaging is considered mixing.

i never mix
And still, if you don't encounter any errors in memtest86 other than zero, that's a failure. It could be the RAM or the motherboard slots. Test with one RAM stick first. If it works, repeat with the same stick in each slot. Continue with another stick to confirm.
Last night I tried the 4 ram kit corsairs for 4 hours and the 2 ram kit g.skill for 3 hours, both using XMP profile with no errors. Still facing issues – 3dmark crashes on the CPU and y-cruiser crashes after about 30 minutes of testing. Likely the problem is with the CPU, though the intel test passed as well.
