If the initial latency remains unchanged, choosing lower latency is better. Between DDR5-6400 CL32 and DDR5-5600 CL28, the latter offers higher frequency.

Beyond just the speed and CAS latency, other aspects like memory controller settings and additional considerations matter (a 6400 kit would likely struggle on AMD if you only need XMP support). Overall, when the clock speed is higher and timing matches closely despite the frequency gap, that unit performs better.

I need to clarify which two kits you're referring to. The Intel chips mentioned are G.Skill Ripjaws S5 models with 32 GB and 64 GB configurations.

When prices match and you're using an Intel 13th gen or newer, the 6400 kit is a solid choice with no major drawbacks.

What's the optimal choice between DDR5 4800MHz CL34 and DDR5 6400MHz CL38?
