DDR5 asynchronously dual-channel setup
The performance when using asynchronous memory (8+16) on the latest 2022 laptops with DDR5 is similar to what you get with DDR4. The new architecture of DDR5 doesn’t seem to significantly change compatibility, though there may be slight improvements or adjustments needed. Intel and AMD both appear to have reliable support for these configurations.
There is already a discussion on related topic and: By the way, Its a bit irrelevant, but still could be useful for those who dare . Crucial (and I suppose other DDR5 vendors) can read most laptop specs and check their max total RAM motherboard setting, here is the one for Zephyrus M16 (2022) . According to this site all new G15 and M16 support 48 GB RAM total. As in my case, there is 8 GB soldered, it means it supports up to 32 GB, having 40 at max. So you can reach 48 only if 16 is soldered and 32 added.
