DDR5 is likely to launch in the first half or second half of next year. I can't confirm it for sure, but that's what the speculation is. When new tech arrives, prices usually jump significantly compared to the previous generation. We make this point with DDR4 replacing DDR3 and DDR3 swapping for DDR2. At first, it was costly and hard to find, so it wasn't a good time to rush into DDR5.
