DDR4 RAM Overclock - Safe?
DDR4 RAM Overclock - Safe?
Hello, I have an i7-5820K with Noctua NH-D15 and 4x8 8GB DDR4 2666 Corsair Vengeance LPX.
Today I overclocked the CPU to 4.5 at 1.22V stable, but noticed that the stock RAM frequency is 2133.
I observed that 2666 XMP crashes while 2800 doesn’t. I don’t want to increase the voltage further and found stable at 4.45ghz, 1.22V with 2800mhz memory.
The RAM temperatures aren’t visible and are above the stock RAM speed—does this matter? Could it affect performance?
Benchmarks indicate better results at 2133 and 4.5ghz compared to 4.45 and 2800ghz.
Could you give some advice to get the most out of my system?
Thanks.
Don't stress about heat. For gaming, stick with the 4.5GHz CPU speed and 2133MHz RAM speed. The additional CPU clock will provide more advantage than the quicker RAM.
