Hello, I began assembling a PC from a friend who hadn’t used it since 2016. He purchased new components and handed me the old machine. The setup was Intel 5820K X99A SLI KRAIT EDITION MSI GeForce RTX 2070 with two 3200MHz G.Skill F4-3200C16Q-16GTZB GPUs, paired with Corsair RM 650 water cooling. I started configuring the system and Windows 10 Pro is now running. I activated the XMP profile for all eight RAM modules, but the boot failed. I then reduced it to six RAM slots using only the XMP preset, and the system booted successfully and ran stably. For all tests, I kept the CPU presets disabled. Could anyone suggest a way to reach 3200MHz across all eight chips? Take care and stay healthy! Best regards, blst
This configuration is tough to manage. Have you attempted adjusting the speed, latency, and voltage on the RAM yourself?
Adding more modules strains the memory controller and makes higher frequencies harder to achieve. This problem has persisted for a long time. A single stick offers the best stability and highest performance. Two sticks provide reliable dual-channel support for XMP profiles. Four sticks with two channels deliver consistent results, though XMP becomes challenging. Six sticks in three channels work well, but XMP struggles beyond that. Twelve sticks across three channels are feasible, but you’ll need extra adjustments to run all 12 at XMP, which may limit frequency while slots fill. That’s the summary.
I start with simple tests since combining six modules is atypical. I'll begin with four modules in quad channel, then swap them to the remaining slots to verify they run at the higher speed. Repeat for the other four modules. This helps rule out any odd channels or modules. If everything checks, it might point to loading issues. Try a lower speed by adjusting XMP and reducing it slightly before saving and testing.

Quad channel operates smoothly with all 8 modules at 2300 MHz. In the upcoming phase, I plan to gradually raise the clock speed. I’ll test this across every module. Have you noticed any issues with the module arrangement? Or should I adjust one module at a time to assess its impact on the maximum clock?
