Hello, Your current configuration includes a Ryzen 9 5900X, EVGA 3080ti GPU, and 16GB of Corsair LPX RAM. You're experiencing high idle usage around 10GB with browsers open and significant memory demand when launching games (up to 14GB). You sometimes switch tabs while gaming to browse or watch videos, which causes brief stutters. You're evaluating a upgrade to 64GB of 3600MHz C16 RAM, unsure whether 2x32GB or 4x16GB is best. You prefer C16 over C18 and are budgeting about $300 AUD. The Corsair Vengeance RGB RT 32GB kit with two 16GB modules at 3600MHz seems reasonable for your needs.

Generally, choosing the 2x32 path is preferable for achieving higher speeds. In most cases with 3000/5000 series Ryzen processors, four dimms will likely run at 3200 or 3000 MHz. You appear to have an excellent IMC that can support 4000 CL16 RAM. The difference between CL18 and CL16 probably won’t be noticeable unless the secondary timings are significantly poor. It’s not advisable to purchase two 2x16 kits, as they often fail. However, you might get lucky, but a 2x32 or 4x16 setup is usually more reliable.

2x32GB storage. Given the minimal amount provided, noticeable performance gaps won’t appear unless you run tests.

2x tends to be more affordable as well, and it works better since having two adds stability compared to four

Absolutely, I'm definitely 2x. I've tried 4 sticks on a Ryzen chip before, and even with a slower RAM speed (2666), Windows would still crash when more than 2 sticks were used. Dual-channel definitely adds value.
