Hello, welcome! I'm new to overclocking and have an older setup I'd like to explore. My components are: motherboard B75-D3V, CPU I7-3770, GPU GTX660, RAM 4x4GB DDR3 (serial KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX). I want to try boosting my RAM speed to 1600 MHz. My system can handle it, and the RAM supports that speed, though it didn't boot when I tried to set it there in BIOS—three beeps happened. I heard you might need to gradually raise the RAM voltage in BIOS, maybe by small steps like 0.005V or 0.01V. Is the current 1.500V safe? Could increasing RAM voltage affect other parts? Are there other BIOS settings related to RAM that I should adjust? And before making any changes, is there anything else I should know to keep my PC stable? Thanks a lot!

Is your BIOS unable to handle XMP? If the cards support 1600 MHz, just activate it without further changes. The card’s XMP setting will set the proper voltage and timing.

XMP was precisely what I intended... In my BIOS there are two choices for memory speed. The default sets it to 1333 MHz, while XMP allows you to adjust the RAM to 1600 MHz. However, the voltage settings remain unchanged... I didn’t modify the voltage options, but enabling XMP alone didn’t allow the system to boot.

The Kingston kit supports DDR3-1600 with 9-9-9 timing, using 1.65V for DRAM. Activate XMP mode and verify the DRAM voltage matches 1.65V.
