Currently, the costs of DDR4 and DDR3 are nearly identical. Occasionally, DDR3 may be marginally pricier.

Ram sticks remain priced at or above the manufacturing cost. There’s always a minimum cost they can reach. DDR3 will likely become pricier due to reduced availability. DDR4 may see a slight increase in price too. Demand and availability affect the market. When supply shrinks, prices tend to rise.

Ddr3 remains surprisingly common, particularly in budget setups. It won’t be replaced anytime soon, and even after the transition, some Chinese manufacturers will continue producing it.

You can purchase 64GB DDR3 RAM for around thirty dollars. I think the cost will keep dropping because it’s about to become outdated.

You're covering more than just the immediate needs; you're also funding the warehouse, inventory, and product maintenance expenses. Even big companies have to pay rent.

By the time DDR3 supplies run out, you’ll likely have options for more recent types like DDR6 or DDR5. There’s still time to act. The second-hand market offers many choices.

DDR3 models include those with H61, H81 or any Gen4, Gen3, Gen2 or older variants that remain available everywhere. They are gradually disappearing but won’t vanish before 2026 due to used units and new stock. DDR4 supports AM4 sockets (from 1000 to 5000 Ryzens including G-suffixed) or Gen6 through Gen11, so there’s still plenty of them in use. Running Windows 11 on them is fine now, just performance may decrease slightly. The end of Windows 10 means fewer options for Linux or alternatives—no need to worry about shortages of DDR3 or DDR4 memory sticks.
