Yes, you can combine DDR3 and DDR3L modules on a motherboard, but ensure compatibility with your system requirements.

This setup isn't feasible because DDR3L needs less voltage than standard DDR3. Putting DDR3L on a regular DDR3 board won't work, and I can't confirm it will function properly—it might damage the RAM.

DDR3L typically operates around 1.35V, though it can support dual-voltage and even 1.5V. DDR3 demands a minimum of 1.5V. For optimal performance, aim for 1.35V to cut power use and heat. Also think about clock speed and latency—mixing RAMs usually results in the lowest common clock and highest common latency, which isn’t ideal.

I used to have that Acer Aspire 5750G running both DDR3 and DDR3L RAM together. Even though it booted fine, cleaning it regularly forced me to re-seat each stick about fifteen times before it worked again. It would start with one or the other but not both until it decided otherwise. Recently I pulled it out after it stopped working and still had the Kingston MBLW6-J9XM4W-WW09F 1.5V stick and a SPECTEK ST51264BF160B.16FKR 4GB DDR3L module. One slot shows 1.5V, the other has a label but I’m not sure if it’s 1.35V. Can you mix them? Probably, a 1.35V stick might fit in a 1.5V slot, though I’d avoid it just to save money.

Only because it's possible doesn't guarantee it's right.
