DayZ on APU
DayZ on APU
Hey, I'm curious about the AMD A8-7600's performance with DayZ. It's an Alpha processor, and even powerful systems have trouble running it. A friend is considering it and wants to know the chances of success. Any thoughts would be helpful!
Before I shared my experience with DayZ, the game was really slow and unstable. It might work fine on low settings with a bit of shaky performance. Could you send me your Steam library so he can test it? Or maybe use the refund option if it doesn’t run properly?
It's unrelated to being alpha. The engine used in Arma 2 and 3 is known for being difficult to run, even at lower settings. Arma is considered one of the most demanding games available. My friend was playing Arma 3 on an Intel HD graphics card... I can confirm that even at the lowest possible settings with 720, you'll typically see around 15-20 frames per second.
My friend was playing Arma 4. The release date is unknown, as they were still developing DLC for Arma 3. I believe an APU might struggle with performance, but testing could reveal otherwise—possibly achieving 720P at 60FPS. This depends on server load; heavy gameplay can cause FPS drops for everyone. I’ve played Arma 2 and 3 for over two years, with 30FPS being typical. I only noticed smooth 60FPS missions after my clan upgraded their server.
You sign in with your Steam account on his computer, navigate to Steam > Settings > Family, authorize the device, and confirm his name. He can then access your games. It’s straightforward. However, he can’t play both games simultaneously (so they won’t overlap). This method lets him try out DayZ safely.
Absolutely, I'm taking it seriously. I just wanted to bring it to your attention.
