dayz....
I've read that there's tons of glitches and hackers in dayz and the devs pretty much do nothing. but i've also read that it can be a ton of fun with friends. I have some friends that have dayz and they want me to get it. Do you guys think that the good things in the game can outweigh the bad things? I don't want to spend $35 on a game that will just suck. the steam reviews at the top are negative, but steam says they are "very positive" on average. I was thinking about getting over the winter sale but it never went below $30. Do you guys think it's worth it? i'd be playing with some of my best friends
I've faced the same issue before; most people who know about it haven't updated the game meaningfully. In my view, it's not worth it. Rust would be a far better choice for this kind of game.
I have my reasons for not wanting to buy it again. My friend plays it often and tried to convince me. There are issues with the preparation time—two hours to get ready feels excessive. If you start in bad spots and keep getting killed, it seems fair. Only one player can take down someone after that long setup, and you rarely see that coming. You can join any server, switch to a full one, and have better gear than others. Of course, this isn’t a big deal if you play with a group and act respectfully. But when solo play is constantly mocked, it loses appeal. The game doesn’t run very well.
I bought it when standalone was first "released", done alot of hiking, but had a blast. I only put in about 50 hours into the game, but played with 10 people and had a great time. If you friends, you should have a great time on dayz. The walking is a huge negative.
I've spent 200 hours trying to get the game, and only two hacking situations have appeared. I really enjoy the game—it's improving with each update, especially the upcoming "new renderer" patch which should resolve most performance problems. If you have friends to play with, it's worth giving it a try. If I were you, I'd watch some gameplay videos to see if it's right for you. You can find plenty on YouTube, like Mrblackout or jamjar, who share great content highlighting the game.
It's a fraud. The developer dropped off after releasing a rough prototype with extremely slow progress, and once they earned their money they left. Very straightforward. The mod itself works well, even surpassing DayZ SA in quality.
I’ve played for more than 300 hours, and it’s really enjoyable when you’re sharing it with friends—not just about security issues.
