Looking for newer shooters with team-based objectives? I'm seeking alternatives to CS:GO that offer similar gameplay but with more varied roles and a fresh capture-the-flag experience.

Check if 500+ FPS on DoD Source is sufficient or if the game is unresponsive.

I don’t have any information comparable to DoD but more recent.

You might explore Insurgency at http://store.steampowered.com/app/222880/. It offers various classes and game modes, some resembling CTF, but it leans more toward realism than the playful tone of DoD:S. A WWII mod is now in beta for Insurgency at http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/fi...=601757902. It’s worth noting you may need to wait for a similar title or a new Valve release, as I enjoyed DoD:S during the mid-2000s and would appreciate an updated version. Red Orchestra 2 is also available at http://store.steampowered.com/app/35450/, though it’s a more historically accurate WWII shooter rather than the modern combat style of Insurgency.

Thanks! I'll take a look. I was thinking about Battlefield 4 but realized it isn't available on Steam, so I decided to skip it.

That’s an unreasonable mindset. Just because something is available at another store doesn’t mean you should ignore it. If my neighborhood store ran out of milk, I wouldn’t head to the next town over.

No! You wait for your store to restock the milk! You're not loyal! But let's talk about this. A long time ago, I used to play on the console during the source era and tried again last year (or late 2014), but it was too bad. I also played DoDS before and liked version 1.6 the most. Insurgency was the closest to DoD, but it had modern weapons and better realism (just two taps, you know).

If it isn't available on Steam, I won't play it. Everyone around me uses Steam. I'll look into Insurgency.
