Data transfer over the internet experiences delays because of the streaming process.
Hello everyone, I wasn't aware of where I could find assistance for this issue, but I thought this post would be helpful. I'm using many movies and series through VLC on my network. Recently, I've experienced a significant slowdown when downloading online (only during LAN streaming). I wasn't sure if this was a constant problem. Initially, I was getting about 25MB per download, which is acceptable. My network speed is around 1Gbit/s and works fine without issues. I can reach full speed with minimal lag. Theoretical speeds for a 200Mbit download would be much higher, even with some activity. Task manager shows spikes up to 15Mbit while watching a movie. After starting a test download of a 10GB file, the speed first climbs to 20+MB/s but then drops to around 1-2MB/s after a few minutes. This pattern happened consistently across all PCs I tested, regardless of location. My setup uses a Fritzbox 6430. Is this typical? Probably not, unless I should have noticed sooner. What steps should I take to resolve this?
I became a bit more knowledgeable. I recalled the standard router from my internet service provider. I dislike it and can't operate it due to DS-Lite and IPV6 features. Yet, I used it without issues as described earlier. The issue seems to lie with the Fritzbox itself. Probably it was included in any recent update.
