I decided to try Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition. Because I can't play SoulsBorne games without a remote, I connected my PS4 controller to my PC. It's been functioning well after using inputmapper, allowing me to play a few titles. Recently, while loading the game, the camera spun uncontrollably and the buttons felt oddly mapped. I've experimented with various solutions from forums—like using a bat file or connecting via exclusive remote—to DS4Windows, but nothing has resolved the issue. Someone else has faced these problems and found fixes? It's really frustrating! Hopefully, a simple fix will be available soon so we can move forward.

Are there any additional control devices connected? It seems Dark Souls PTDE was behaving similarly for me. I was using my HOTAS or G13, and unexpectedly both caused issues. Eventually, I had to remove every input device except the keyboard, mouse, and Steam Controller.

DS4windows is an outdated application. Consider using InputMapper to mimic an Xbox controller. On Windows 10, many input tools struggle with exclusive mode, so you’ll see XInput added on top of the native inputs from Windows. I faced this issue with older DS4 games for some time. InputMapper can indicate whether it successfully places the controller in exclusive mode; if so, you’re set. If it only reaches shared mode, solutions exist via InputMapper to resolve the issue.

I attempted to use inputmapper and DS4 Windows, but it didn’t help. It seems the settings got messy, and now Xbox 360 controller isn’t listed at all—only XInput appears.
