Dark Souls available on Steam with updated DS fixes version 2.3.
You're experiencing a noticeable improvement in frame rate, especially with the Steam version. It seems the updates or changes—like the DSFix and GFWL removal—have positively impacted performance. Solid 60fps is now stable, unlike the previous 40-50fps on the older build. Others seem to agree with this observation.
This shouldn't occur on your setup, or are you not using the dsfix tool?
You're testing it, and it's holding steady at 30 with no issues.
I just set it to 30 for stability and avoided any issues with physics. I also saw much faster loading without the GFWL filter, which might mean the update improved performance.
The only issue I've faced is slipping down the stairs. The input lag at 30fps is terrible—playing becomes impossible. You can just exit and restart. That’s not worth the hassle. @BallisticPeanut, loading times have really improved. Thanks for the update!
I tested it on the 360 at 30 frames per second initially, then moved it to PC. Problems mainly appear in games running at 30 fps, especially shooters, often with frequent dips below that speed or issues with item damage. Did anyone notice a change where items became more powerful at 30 fps?
You're getting comfortable at 30fps, but noticing the strong 60fps performance in your setup could be a good idea to test further. It might help to see what works best.
Game won't start unless FPS is unlocked. I’ll need to update DSfix because I can’t recall the current version.
You must upgrade to version 2.3.1 and turn off in-game auto-load settings. Also, I’m no longer using that setup. Got a superawesome... 560TI. Until then, I might consider getting a GPU.
