I've just begun paying for DS. I completed DS2 and others said it's simpler than the first version. After playing an hour, I died 30 times and quit 15 times. It's really frustrating. Overall, I enjoy the game. What do you think about it? Which version do you prefer compared to DS2? Peace.

This is why I avoid those types of games.

I really enjoy every Soul's game, but DS 1 stands out the most. It can be quite challenging at first, even for seasoned players, though it improves over time with practice. Just remember to be gentle with Smough and Ornstein, okay?

I favor the stories in DS1 over DS2's. It's tough to put into words without writing a full essay, so I'll keep my choice unchanged. For everything else, DS2 was more enjoyable. It eliminated slow or unnecessary weapon upgrades (though DS2 still has some weak ones), improved combat and movement, and performed better on PC than the original version. The frequent changes to features that didn't need fixing—like miracles and sorceries, or the monastery scimitar—were frustrating. The graphics improvements in demos versus the final release were also disappointing, though fixing them in Scholar of the First Sin was appreciated. It's nice that From provided us with options to share level points.

I believe Dark Souls 1 ranks among the greatest games ever made. I began with the second title but haven't explored much of it yet, and I'm eager for the SOTFS update.

I've just heard about that pair. My mind is already racing. Luckily, the Sunlight Knight can be called to assist.

DS2's mechanics stood out, yet it highlighted Miyazaki's minimal involvement in Dark Souls 2. Many aspects of the game feel confusing, with uneven pacing, repetitive boss designs, and weak early weapon availability—especially before I settled on the Heide Knight Sword. Even the visuals aren't significantly better; yes, there are some nice shots of water and sunset, but the overall feel is sparse and lifeless. The country of Drangleic appears hollow, and while the lighting overhaul helped meet release goals, it seems a poor excuse to profit from the game. Better discounts for past owners would have been more considerate, similar to Square Enix's approach with Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition.

Absolutely, I see your point. It’s pretty puzzling at first. Switching from DX9 to DX11 should have been straightforward, right? I’m sure the visual improvements will make a big difference. Still, it’s odd that Hollow Soldiers ended up in Miyazaki’s office somehow.

Do you already possess the Drake Sword? It feels a bit like shortcutting with it at first, but it does assist later on.

Absolutely, I have it too—I also obtained the Dragon Spear from that warrior in the shadow basin. It's a formidable weapon.
