Dark displays and powerful fans
Hey there, friends. I just set up my first gaming PC and it’s been acting up lately. At first it worked perfectly, but now it keeps glitching. Every so often both screens turn black and the fans spin really loudly. Other than a hard restart, nothing seems to help. Over the past weeks I’ve tried tons of fixes—reseating the GPU, changing the PSU, updating RAM, reinstalling drivers, updating BIOS, stress testing the hardware, and checking temperatures. The crash report says the system rebooted without a clean shutdown, which could mean it stopped responding or crashed unexpectedly. The error code is 41.
Here’s what I’ve done:
- Reseated GPU
- Reseated PSU
- Reseated RAM
- Reconfigured everything
- Updated drivers and BIOS
- Ran stress tests on both GPU and CPU (no issues)
- Monitored temperatures consistently
The drive says it restarted cleanly, but the system still doesn’t behave right. I’m pretty unsure what’s going on now. Hopefully, I can get this sorted out soon!
That’s a really frustrating error code. I’d suggest trying it with a spare PSU if you have one, or sending the PSU back for replacement (RMA). You might also want to check another area of the house using a different breaker, as the issue could be related to brown power or something similar.
The issue arose after a hard restart, not from the crash itself. If you verify, the system boots normally, which suggests a graphics driver problem. This occurs occasionally and I haven’t located a solution yet, though I haven’t used a DDU. Another approach could involve checking SFC/DISM, but it didn’t resolve the matter for me. Fully reinstalling Windows might also be an option.
Usually indicates no error code remained, showing there’s just one available. It’s frustrating to encounter that warning message.
