I damaged the vbus pin while trying to detach the power cable from my 3.0 board. It was close to it and the room had low lighting, so I pressed my thumb there and noticed the pin was bent at a 90-degree angle. After straightening it, it broke off and fell near two USB headers. It’s not a major issue, but could it be fixed? These USB 3.0 pins are really delicate.

According to what I understand, there’s no alternative besides attempting to re-solder it, similar to how Linus resolved the missing CPU pins. If you require more than two headers, you might consider purchasing a splitter such as the one offered by NZXT.

I located the pin and stored it in a sealed bag. Do you think I could reattach it after soldering, since it shattered?

It seems unlikely it would survive a split. Even if possible, would the effort be worthwhile for you?

It's making me anxious about my OCD. I received a replacement warranty from MicroCenter, so I'm using it now. Still frustrated—I usually pay attention, but hitting it feels like a mistake. It also damaged the item's resale potential.

you might want to give it another shot...it's alright...we all make mistakes and gain experience from them...=x...i got a chip, weighed 3200g, and adjusted some pins on a 3700x...damaged the plastic in the am4 socket...bent pins on an old intel motherboard...

Ugh, sorry about what happened to you. Figuring out how to adjust those 3700x pins was tough. Now that you have an LED strip and a USB 3.2 header working, it’s actually lighting up nicely—surprisingly good news! I’ve never dealt with something like this before, which makes me feel a bit upset...

3200g applied... appears to function but occasionally crashes... suitable only for watching videos in the living room. 3700x was removing thermal paste but applied too forcefully and quickly; the cloth was too long, so pulling the opposite side caused damage. I managed to straighten it back now. I won’t be handling them again for cleaning thermal paste. Msi meg x570 ace is working. Pulling too hard on the handle caused the stopper to fly off, but it still functioned. It’s an older board, so cleaning is fine. I don’t remember the exact model... put duct tape over it.=p

You shouldn’t feel guilty at all. I went through a rough time without breaking anything, but I messed up things in pretty silly ways—like using my phone while swimming, forgetting where the screws were when putting my laptop back together, and ending up with a few extra parts after reassembly. Everyone goes through this.
