Damaged USB 3.0 connector
Damaged USB 3.0 connector
Hello, this is my first message here. I was assembling a new PC and connected my USB 3.0 header, removed it for cable organization, and accidentally damaged both the connector and the Int_A P1_SSRX pin. Corsair offers a replacement IO panel but I’m not expecting an RMA from MSI (though I’ll attempt one). Here are my questions:
1. Is it still safe to connect?
2. What are the issues if that pin isn’t working?
3. Can I fix it or should I accept missing front USB 3.0?
There are two IntA_P1_SSRX connectors. However, it appears one of your USB3.0 ports may not function correctly or could have problems, as noted in an Intel document. This pin is linked to the Port1 SuperSpeed Rx or - signal, which might be a data line but isn't confirmed. I'm unsure if it's safe to connect, but nothing too serious seems likely. In the worst case, you could damage the USB 3.0 header on your motherboard. To resolve this, you could try bending the pin back or soldering it again. Alternatively, consider returning it via RMA to MSI.
