Yes, the scratch on the mobile seems to be the likely cause of the problem.

Not right now. I’d need to fully disassemble my PC to demonstrate it, because the heat sink screw hole is on the back of the motherboard. There’s a fairly thick scratch—about 1mm—that spans more than two traces. It appears as a faint silvery line and I’m sure you can spot some silver metal.

the pc seems to be running, but the traces aren't damaged so far. it's unclear if the fan problem is related to this. i recall a similar issue with my old ryan zen board before switching to intel.

The computer isn't starting or turning on. The only indication it has any power is a single flicker in the fan light.

If those traces are damaged, I’m curious about your soldering skills—would you be able to apply solder to repair them, or should I go ahead and purchase a new motherboard?
