Daily work on CPU editing tasks
I understand I likely won't make a mistake with either option. I'm currently setting up a PC for a friend who mainly works on media projects—using Pinnacle Studio, Corel Paint Shop, and Reason 6. His existing system is very outdated, often needing up to two weeks to render a short video. The challenge is choosing between the 3700x and 5600x processors. Since rendering benefits from more cores, I'm leaning toward the 3700x. However, I'm also hoping both will improve his workflow. For general use, does single-core speed matter more than multiple cores? Just to clarify, he handles stop-motion videos with heavy effects at 4K and composes music for them. Any advice would be appreciated.
I'm adjusting the other specifications a bit more loosely, mainly because of what's available. I was thinking about a 32GB system with a 3200+ RAM setup (for handling big files), a 3060 graphics card (if I manage to get one), and an 1TB SSD. That should cover everything you need.
