Daily BSOD
Daily BSOD
I've experienced frequent BSODs on my system roughly four to seven times weekly. Occasionally I can go several days without one, only to face it again. The error message changes, and sometimes I'm not even at the computer when it happens. I rely on this platform for gaming and as a consistently running Plex server. Usually, the BSOD appears while Plex is streaming media, but it doesn't always happen during active play, so I'm uncertain about any connection. Security and maintenance logs indicate a hardware fault, often followed by a reboot after a bug check.
A relevant bugcheck entry shows: The system restarted following a bugcheck. Details of the issue include:
- Code: 144
- Parameters: several hex values
- Dump file saved at: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP
- Report ID: 883cc030-d187-4e02-86c1-20a29fe94719
Another log entry describes a Windows hardware error, with a description noting a problem that forced a restart. The code and parameters point toward a possible USB-related issue, though I have no clear solution. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi shadowstar1000, A blue screen of death (BSOD) signifies a critical failure in Windows, often caused by either hardware or software issues. The message you received points toward a potential hardware fault, especially involving your graphics processing unit (GPU). Here are some actions you can attempt: Review the hardware condition: Ensure all components are firmly attached and inspect for any physical damage like bent pins on your CPU or GPU. Monitor system temperature to avoid overheating. Upgrade or verify drivers: Confirm you have the most recent drivers for your GPU, motherboard, and other parts. You might find updates on the manufacturer's site or via tools such as Driver Easy. Examine software status: Verify that Windows and all applications are up to date. If the problem continues after driver and software checks, consider removing any recently added software or drivers to determine if they’re causing the issue. Investigate conflicts: Disable extra hardware components in your BIOS/UEFI settings to rule out conflicts. Scan for malware: Malware can trigger BSODs; perform a complete system scan with an antivirus program. If these steps don’t resolve the matter, the fault may lie with your GPU or another part of the hardware. You might need to replace the defective component or bring your machine to a professional repair facility.
