D6 issue with VGA after stable use for years
My pc has functioned well for years until today it froze and restarted but wouldn't start Windows. I attempted to boot via BIOS, but it would jump back immediately after. After several tries, it stopped accessing BIOS entirely, leaving only a blank screen and the motherboard displaying a D6 VGA error. I changed the GPU lane, tried swapping it, but nothing worked. I also replaced the monitor and cable, yet the issue persisted. I’m unsure what’s wrong. My main PCI lane appears intact with no visible damage or dust. Everything seems securely connected. The GPU lights up and spins continuously. Could it be failing to detect it? Is my motherboard malfunctioning? Before the VGA error, I verified all hardware in BIOS and everything seemed normal. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m fairly tech-savvy but this is quite confusing.
I've encountered this before with a BIOS problem; trying a BIOS flashback to the newest version might resolve it. If that doesn't work, it seems the motherboard may be faulty. Knowing the exact model would be useful.
MSI X570 looks great. Appreciate your response—I hadn’t considered a BIOS update. I also received another motherboard for free, so I’ll attempt a swap to determine if the issue lies with the board itself. Thanks a lot!
