Prior to the 2.0 update, my gaming experience remained stable on my 5600X with RTX 3080 graphics. At 4K resolution, I often faced GPU constraints, but performance stayed solid whether I adjusted crowd density or not. After the 2.0 release, dense environments with many NPCs suddenly became much more demanding. While CDPR cautioned about increased CPU usage, my own experience shows it’s not translating into better performance. I notice that lowering crowd density helps, but setting it to low still feels insufficient for the desired city atmosphere. The issue seems tied to how much CPU power is being consumed, even though my overall frame rates haven’t improved noticeably. Enabling or disabling SMT in settings doesn’t seem to make a difference either. What specifically is causing the extra CPU load in this update?

It's logical that newer AI features raise CPU usage slightly. Still puzzling is the drop in frame rate from 90 to around 50 fps in tighter spaces. The updates mention only a 10% performance change versus the previous version. I wasn't sure I needed to upgrade my 5600X before the 2025 GPU upgrade, but if more titles follow this trend, the 5800X3D seems increasingly appealing.
