Hey everyone, I’m curious if anyone else faces the same challenge. I own an RTX 2060 and a Ryzen 5 1400, which I know can slow things down but I wasn’t sure just how severe it was. I understand games often have suboptimal settings on AMD hardware, so I expected to spend some time adjusting the controls. Still, I can’t seem to get the CPU to drop below full usage consistently, and the GPU just sits idle most of the time. It’s been around 80% or less at any point, whether I’m playing 4K, 720p, or any mix of graphics settings. It runs smoothly for a few minutes but then freezes when I move to combat, leaving gaps in my progress and making it feel like I’m stuck. The stuttering is really noticeable, even during combat.

I’ve tried a few things: I’m running the game on a slower hard drive, which might be affecting asset loading, though I haven’t noticed much difference compared to using a solid state drive. There’s also the fact that the game doesn’t seem to use SMT well—my hex edit helped temporarily but then dropped again. I’ve seen others on YouTube playing with an R5 1400 and getting decent performance, while my experience is much worse. Even an i5 3470 seems to handle it better.

I’m planning an upgrade anyway, but I’m not sure how much this will actually help. It feels like other players are managing it fine, so I’m hoping a more affordable option—like a used R5 2600—might make a big difference. Low crowd density and minimal volumetric clouds mean you should enable DLSS quality at 1080p or 720p. Limit frame rates, as hitting 100% frame rate causes performance issues—keeping it around 90% is better. High frame rates at 100% can overload the CPU, damaging stability.

The additional two cores in a Zen+ would also provide a benefit, though the extent depends on your specific needs and workload.

It can assist in predicting 60%+ performance in parts where you're facing major limitations. I don't know the cost of the 2600, but keep in mind that a B550+5600X is around 400 USD and likely the fastest gaming CPU available, though if the 2600 is about 75 bucks, it's a solid deal.

I really wish I was in the US—I can't believe the prices right now! It would make sense to buy the 2600 for £120 here. At this point, thinking about a 3600 under £180 sounds like a smart move given how much better it is... definitely more future-proof.
